Complaints About Businesses

Name of business: NOVA Photography and Videography

complaint: I contracted the company, NOVA Photography and Videography, now located in Fairfax Station, VA to photograph my wedding.

All brides and grooms to be, beware of this company. It is run by the owner Robert Little. My wedding was in November 1996. I didn't get my wedding album from him until June 1997. I still have not gotten a large canvased and framed portrait from him that we paid for in June. Mr. Little hung up the phone on my husband and said that he would get us the picture when he got us the picture. He has refused to answer our calls and respond to our letter of complaint.

NOVA photo made us pay everything up front before the wedding. I got my album 7 1/2 months later, but still have yet to get my portrait. This company has been nothing but a hassle to deal with. My advice to you would be to steer clear of this company and advise all your friends to do the same.

If you are also a victim of this company, please contact the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. Maybe we can stop any future unsuspecting brides and grooms from enduring this mess.

Name of business: Bedford Village - A Charles E. Smith Property

Spent several days with my wife from work cleaning and fixing up our apartment when it was time to move out. The out inspection was performed and we were given a check-out slip with no deficiencies noted. We were told that we would receive our $250.00 deposit in the mail within a month. About five weeks later we received a notice saying that a reinspection had been done without us present and that our deposit would not be returned due to repair work. I sent several letters asking them what right they thought they had to do this but received no reply.

Name of business: MCI

Today I recived a 650.00 dollar phone bill and looked at my billing I called MCI and asked them why my bill was so high and told them that my sevice was to be on the .12 cents a minute plan and they said that i did not have service with them because it was cut off in febuary and that it was between my phone company a me. So called my local phone company and they said it would have to be between mci and me after about 4 hours on the phone calling each service back and forth. They finally said they would credit me. Thanks to my local company talking to them. My question is is it legal to change a rate with out informing a current customer, and is thier anybody that i could really report this too, will or can i be reimbersed for past charges, and is thier any honest long distance services.

Name of business: Starbuck's Coffee

Starbck Coffee has just been exposed for only paying there Guatamalan employees $2.50 a day. Although you and I stil pay $5.00 for a cup of Joe!!!!!!!

Name of business: Vienna Cleaners

I recently visited Vienna Cleaners to have alterations done on a pair of mens slacks. I told the lady who did alterations that the pants were too long and needed to be hemmed. I also asked if another pair of pants with a SMALL hole in them could be repaired in a fashion where the hole was not noticable. She assured me the repair "wouldn't show". Upon picking up the two pairs of pants I was astounded to find:

I spoke with the manager about the unauthorized charges, to which his only response was "the pants fit, dont they?" and also showed him the horrible mess that was made in an unsuccessful attempt to repair the other pair of pants. His response was "she couldnt have fixed it w/out it showing". Needless to say, I am warning everyone I know of the total disregard shown towards a customer at this establishment.

Name of Business: MCI

6/2/96: Our company was offered by a salesman (via a phone call) at MCI a discount rate of 11.1 cents/minute between 8am-5pm and 8.5 cents/minute at all other times, offered after we informed him that we were getting 11.9c/min flat rate 24 hours/day.  The MCI salesman stated there were no minimum monthly volume requirements except that a $5.00/month minimum usage was required.  When we got our first statement, the rates were 22c/min and 28c/min with a super 10% discount off of that rate.  BIG DEAL, EH!!!.  What a bait-and-switch the salesman did to us. MCI did pay $5.00 for switching us back, but what a hassle -- wasted over 2 hours of my time to get everything back to the way it was and made us very aggravated at MCI.  They (MCI) refused to give me back a courtesy call to inform me about the salesman (if he was found) and taken care of, although the customer service lady did state it would definitely be handled internally.  She then told me her lowest rates were 16c/min; I told her that we just got a MCI card in a business deck that offered a rate of 12.9c/min (flat rate) with 6 sec increment billing, no minimum. She didn't know anything about it; asked me to fax her the card which I did.  MCI-- get your act together.
