Normal travel time is approximately 20 minutes for both ferries between Marsh Harbour and either Hope Town or White Sound, either direction.
For Abaco Ferry, if there is a #1 or #2 note for that time, the ferry is not a direct connection but stops for one main pickup of passengers which requires about 15 minutes additional time, so make sure you consider this, i.e., add 15 minutes to the normal 20 minute travel time) into your anticipated arrival time at your destination. You do not have to disembark from the Abaco Ferry at the short stop-over.
The Marsh Harbour ferry connection is at Albury Ferry Dock for Albury's Ferry and the Public Dock for Abaco Ferry. The Public Dock is just about 100' north of the Albury's Ferry dock. -- ask your taxi driver to take you to either Albury's Ferry or Abaco Ferry for the ferry to Hope Town.
Hope Town pickup for both ferrys are at the Hope Town main post office dock. As it leaves the main post office dock, the ferry will pick up additional passengers at Lighthouse Marina (if passengers are needed to be picked up), Hope Town Harbour Lodge, and/or the Upper Government Dock (near harbor entrance) on its way out of the Hope Town harbor.
When coming from the United States, allow about 15-20 minutes to get your luggage and clear Bahamas customs at Marsh Harbour airport. Allow about a 10 minute taxi ride from airport to Albury's Ferry or Abaco Ferry. If you are renting a boat for pickup in Hope Town, many marinas close at 5pm, so unless you've made other arrangements with the marina, try to make sure you are on the 4:00PM ferry at the latest. If you are renting a golf cart, ask the golf cart renters about how late you can pick up your golf cart (or you can have them deliver it at no charge directly at the front gate to the Octagon house. If you are neither renting a boat or a cart, the caretaker can pick you up in Hope Town or White Sound usually at any scheduled ferry arrival time and take you to the Octagon house.
For your return at the end of your stay, allow 20 minutes ferry ride from Hope Town (or White Sound) to Albury's Marsh Harbour ferry dock, Allow about 10 minutes to get you and your luggage off the boat, then about 10 minutes to get to the airport via taxi. Taxi's will be waiting at the ferry docks and at the airport. Most airlines recommend a 1 hour arrival time before takeoff, but some airlines have shorter/longer check-in times. There is a fairly good snack shop (window) in the airport terminal, and a small restaurant/bar about 100' from the airport terminal.
